At Arnold Hill we aim to prepare our students for the world of work. We strive to prepare all of our students to shine brightly in the workplace that awaits them. Careers advice and guidance is an important area of Arnold Hill’s offering and we aim to meet all pupils’ careers needs across the different year groups.
From Years 7-13 students benefit from effectively planned provision, delivered by the Bright Futures team, which provides practical careers education. The Bright Futures team and tutors support a rigorous Year 8 Options process designed to maximise the potential of each child and help them build for a successful future. In Year 11, the Bright Day focuses on practical preparation for the workplace, with sessions on different aspects of the modern workplace. This is followed a week later with local employers providing a mock interview for all of our year 11 pupils. In addition assemblies in this fortnight will focus on clear and relevant guidance for Post-16 options including independent careers advice from local colleges and FE providers as well as an introduction to life in the Sixth Form at Arnold Hill.
In Year 12 we aim for most of our pupils to have a meaningful work experience. In practice that means a week of career-path focused work experience in the summer term.
Arnold Hill works closely with the world of business and Higher Education to ensure the best possible future for our students.
