Careers Education Plans

Arnold Hill Academy

‘Be Inspired and Achieve Together’

All Staff at Arnold Hill Academy can support pupils in making the right life choices.  This includes supporting them to make the most of their time at the academy and contributing to careers education.  Careers education must be a whole school initiative and therefore ALL staff are vital in the delivery of careers education.

One of the strategic objectives of the Trent Academies Group is to ‘create the most employable young people’ and for this vision to be fulfilled, every staff member must seek occasions through curriculum and opportunities to deliver CEIAG (Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance). Opportunities to discuss CEIAG with pupils may take place  during the option process and also at the end of Key stage 4, when focusing on destinations, during guidance sessions for all years and also during the collapsed timetabled bright days.  .

Our careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) programme is in line with both the Careers Development Institute Framework and the Gatsby benchmarks.  It  ensures our students are given every opportunity to develop their ideas on future careers.

The CEIAG programmes develop our students’ skills and knowledge including:

  • independence
  • appearance - dress for formal environments
  • interaction with professional adults
  • business skills appropriate for all work environments
  • knowledge of the world of work and further and higher education
  • self-marketing skills
  • labour market information
  • resilience and grit

The school is committed to providing a planned programme of careers education, information, advice and guidance for all students in Years 8-11 in partnership with outside agencies in order to deliver Careers to learners.   The school actively works with committed business partners who support the delivery of Careers planned programmes.
